ABOUT US

Quality Products and Top-Notch Service have enabled Zeigler's Window Coverings to thrive for over half a century.

In a mechanized, computer-driven world, a personal touch is still in style at Zeigler's Window Coverings. Mike and Diane Zeigler have maintained the customer-friendly approach established at the company 55 years ago.

In 1947, Mike Zeigler's parents, Robert and Ruth started the company in the basement of their home at Creighton and Hoagland streets in Fort Wayne. The company grew, and in 1952 moved to their current location at 1829 Fairfield Avenue.

Mike Zeigler remembers spending many days with his dad at the family business in the summer of 1958. As a typical 12 year-old, he hindered more than helped. However, as an adult, Zeigler says he never hesitated to enter the family business. "There was never a question," says Mike. "There was never anything else I wanted to do."

Mike Zeigler went to work for the company in June of 1963, and except for the four years he served in the Air Force, he has worked with the business ever since. Mike took over as president in 1983 when Robert retired.

About 90 percent of Zeigler's customers use the free, shop-at-home service that the store offers. This allows the sales consultant to assist clients in considering the colors and décor in their own environment. Addressing their likes and dislikes, the room size and furnishings, and the lighting of the area requiring window coverings. In this setting, the sales consultant can offer a lot more suggestions to their customers.

Customers like the relaxed nature of these visits and appreciate the "no-pressure" sales approach of the Zeigler staff. The consultants also measure the are on site. Once the customer makes their selection, their window treatments arrive usually in two to three weeks. Zeigler's trained staff will remove all of the old window coverings and hardware, and install new.

In addition to quality window coverings, Zeigler's offers custom-made merchandise, such as draperies and bedspreads, in matching or coordinating fabrics. Company seamstresses use a hand-guided bedspread machine at their local facility.

The Fairfield Avenue facility covers 15,000 square feet, with expected expansions in the near future. Zeigler's operates five company vehicles and covers a territory into Ohio, Michigan, and has clients up to 80 miles away.

Zeigler's employs a staff of eight people - and are proud of the family atmosphere that prevails throughout the company.
